Jonathan Blow's MIGS

I'm awfully fond of Jonathan Blow's (of Braid) theory on game design. I feel it rings pretty well with what I think. Don't have anything more to say on that right now though. I'm certain I'll revisit it in the future. For now, you should all take a look: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_in...tory=16392

Also, Testing quotes:

Quote:
He clarified, "I'm not saying [rewards are] bad, I'm saying you can divide them into two categories - some are like foods that are naturally beneficial and can increase your life, but some are like drugs."

Continued Blow, "As game designers, we don't know how to make food, so we resort to drugs all the time. It shows in the discontent at the state of games
-Radosh wanted food, but Halo 3 was just giving him cheap drugs."

If anyone chances upon this site (though I'm making serious posts right now, the site is not officially "open" and a lot of what I post, for example, this extra paragraph right here, are entirely for the purpose of testing certain graphical things (I wanted to see what text after a quote box would look like)) feel free to leave some comments and suggestions. I'd love to read them.

RE: Jonathan Blow's MIGS

Well you have given really very nice and useful information. But according to me there is also some of the reason that we are playing game. They are given below :
- Many children who are avid players fare better in vision tests. Video games exercise the eyes.
- Many games nurture logical skills. Gamers have to build cities or entire nations or plan wars such that they are won.
- Video games sharpen thinking abilities and problem solving skills. Both these qualities are much appreciated and valued in our fast paced world.
- Video games, research proves enhances hand-eye coordination as well as reflexes.
